Recently, I have received a great number of questions regarding ideological topics, namely, if I, along with people of a similar line, identify as “Hoxhaist”, due to my adherence to the theoretical contributions of, and support for the Anti-revisionist struggles of, Enver Hoxha.
The term “Hoxhaist” is very commonly used by non-Marxists as a label to refer to people and organizations which have historically sided with the former People’s Socialist Republic of Albania in regards to the Sino-Albanian split of the 1970s (before such a split, most soon-to-become “Hoxhaist” parties were regarded as “Maoist” and there largely existed merely a single Anti-revisionist grouping), or, in a more contemporary manner, parties which uphold consistent Anti-revisionism and concur with Enver Hoxha and his works. Such examples of the latter meaning include the American Party of Labor, the Voltaic Revolutionary Communist Party, the Revolutionary Communist Party of Brazil, and many others. The most notable feature of these modern “Hoxhaist” parties is their common membership in the International Conference of Marxist–Leninist Parties and Organizations (Unity & Struggle).
However, while both anti-Marxists and revisionists alike deem these parties to be “Hoxhaist”, such a term is rarely, if ever, employed by these parties, with the members of these parties very commonly calling themselves simply Marxist-Leninists or in many instances Marxist-Leninist-Stalinists (as Hoxha did himself).
In certain instances, “Hoxhaist” is even utilized as a mere insult by, among others, followers of Dengist revisionism to attack anyone who does not share their views on the People’s Republic of China, with even clear Trotskyites being labeled “Hoxhaist worms” by Dengists. Of course, this is very much false, with Enver Hoxha’s criticism of the revisionist ideologies of Mao Zedong Thought and Dengism being directly based in material reality and articulated with a clear Marxist perspective, rather than the phantom “degenerated bureaucracy” and other opportunist rhetoric of the Trotskyites.
Regardless of this, many people have asserted that, because I no longer refer to myself as a “Hoxhaist” extensively in certain instances, I have engaged in a “rebranding” effort to “garner more favorable views in the Marxist space”.
This is, however, untrue. My ideological line has not changed, and I shall never engage in an effort of “rebranding”, that is, capitulate my consistent Marxist line in order to attract support from revisionists. Marxism-Leninism-Stalinism is simply the correct and precise term for “Hoxhaism”. Marxism-Leninism-Stalinism is the ideology that was created based upon not only the theory and teachings of Marx, Engels, Lenin, etc., but the experience and further theoretical contributions from Stalin and Hoxha.
Stalinism is the socialist theory formed after the successful development of socialism in the Soviet Union and Socialist Albania. For instance, Socialism in one country as a theory has been tested and made more potent after fascist invasions and social-imperialist encirclement, of the former, the Soviet Union had to bear that, and of the latter, Socialist Albania had the similarly survive that.
Furthermore, many, particularly Dengists and other revisionists, like to claim that Stalinism is merely just a term invented by Trotskyites to attack true followers of Marxism, and thus does not exist. This is false, Stalinism, or more fully, Marxism-Leninism-Stalinism was employed in the Soviet Union during the time of socialist construction under comrade Stalin, it was further used by his followers abroad, including Enver Hoxha, to make his Anti-revisionist views be distinct from the false “Marxism-Leninism” of the revisionist Soviet Union and People’s Republic of China. To this day, many revolutionary parties, such as the Movement for the Reorganization of the Communist Party of Greece 1918–1955, openly refer to themselves as Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist.
Thus, let us make ourselves distinct from the Dengist revisionists who have all but corrupted Marxism-Leninism to fit their social-imperialist views. Let us show our adherence to the five classics of Marxism, including Stalin and Hoxha.
For me, “Hoxhaist” shall always be a short-hand term for Marxism-Leninism-Stalinism, yet being referred to as a “Hoxhaist” has always served as an indication of success in my attempt to adhere to a consistent Marxist and Anti-revisionist line.
